Stoke Stampede – March 2011

We had a glorious day for the Fun Run, which was postponed from Boxing Day because of the bad weather.  The winner, Jamie Darling,  came in in 35mins.  He used to help us with harvest – probably why he’s so fit!  Rob helped with the marshalling at the top of the hill (helped by Badger), Liz helped enter the date on the computer in the village hall.

Playing Field 60th anniversary celebrations

The Playing Field is also the village’s war memorial and it is celebrating its 60th anniversary over the weekend of 18th/19th June.  There will be a fete, Barbeque, songs of praise with a band and a cricket match.

Michael & Katie’s wedding

Michael & Katie were married in the church at Stoke last September.  We were thrilled when they asked if they could have their reception in our orchard.  It was a glorious day (after a week of wind and rain) the service was beautiful, the food fantastic and the speeches hilarious.  The day couldn’t have been more perfect.  They had three weeks honeymoon in America.

2012

The Stoke Stampede (10k) will be held on Boxing Day 2011 – starting outside the Rose & Crown at 11.00am and finishing at the Royal Oak, Run off that turkey and christmas pudding!

The Village will be celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a fete, big lunch on the field, party and the hall and much, much more.  This village knows how to party, so come and join us.
