Walking in Somerset

The Somerset Levels are criss-crossed with footpaths; you can see for miles and the natural history is superb, especially popular with wading birds. There are several good circular walks nearby. Further afield the Mendips, Quantocks and Exmoor offer more challenging trails. We can provide books, maps and leaflets.  Cycling There are wonderful cycle routes, country roads and quiet lanes where cycling is a pleasure. We are fortunate to have 3 golf courses within a 10 mile radius, as well as Vivary Park – a public course in the heart of Taunton.

Food and drink

There are three pubs within 1.5 miles of Holly Farm:
The Rose & Crown at Stoke St Gregory, a traditional country pub serving good food with a warm welcome.
The Royal Oak at Stoke St Gregory, snacks, roasts or an evening meal at a reasonable price.
The Bird in Hand at North Curry, an AA recommended pub, an old coaching inn with flagstone floors and an inglenook fireplace. 01823 490248

Further afield is The King Alfred at Burrowbridge: Another traditional country pub, sit outside on a warm summer’s afternoon on the terrace overlooking the River Parrett.
